My inspirations: under the sea

March 1, 2017

So, I started this little series of blogs in January when I discussed my CHILDHOOD and how it ultimately lead to jewellery, last month I waffled about TEXTURES, and here I will be sharing more of my INSPIRATIONS with you... this time, one of the strongest influences in my jewellery designs themselves...

If you've read my previous two blog posts, then you will quickly relate this to a particular film my sister and I watched OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again....

...we also spent many day trips and summer holidays at our grandparents beach house, and so the seaside has always had fond memories linked with it.

With trips to aquariums, tv programmes about discovering the world under the waves, my childhood at the beach / watching disney / telling stories of mermaids, and the CALM home-like feeling I get when I look at the sea with sand beneath my feet, you can see why ideas of ocean treasures flow from my imagination into my designs.

I love looking at coral, barnacles, ocean-life... the colours, forms textures...

The one and only thing on my bucket list, is that one day I will go diving and see the beautiful coral reefs for myself - HOWEVER, as I am ridiculously petrified of being eaten by sharks (yes, I know it is silly, but even when I am barely knee-deep in Norfolk waves, I start panicking!) it may take me quite a while to get that far, but one day I WILL!

What do you want to do in your future? or what fears do you have to overcome?

Let's support each other and make our dreams reality...
