So, time and time again I have people contacting me and asking how to clean their jewellery, or which cleaning products they should purchase... now, you will likely see all sorts of fandangled solutions/products/gadgets which promise to make your jewellery super clean and sparkly, and I can't speak for all of them, obviously, but in my opinion you really do not need any of them!
All you need is some clean fresh water, some washing up liquid, and a soft brush (child's toothbrush, or a paintbrush)!
I will at some stage upload a demo video, probably on instagram, and also hope to sell some mini kits in the future too (containing ethical products, such as bamboo toothbrushes and eco-friendly washing up liquid), but for now, here's a little explanation for you, so you can get your jewellery sparkly again.....
Get your soft brush, and get it wet. Add a small squidge of washing up liquid to the bristles, and give it a good clean all over - use a gentle scrubbing motion in all directions to remove any debris, paying special attention to remove any build up inside / beneath the setting(s) and behind the stone(s). Your jewellery should then be very thoroughly rinsed with clean cool water.
You can then let it air dry or dry it using a very soft lint-free cloth, though you must ensure it is completely dry before wearing.
If you have pearl jewellery, then it's best not to clean them in this manner - pearls are usually set with adhesive or tied on silk, and in both cases the water would cause weakening and potential pearl loss.
