'tis the season...

December 1, 2017

At this time of year we get bombarded with questions about all sorts of things, predominantly proposals, keepsakes, and dress jewellery for gifts, so we thought we would address these three areas for you.

It's no wonder that this time of year, already full of emotion and sparkle, triggers off the thought of marriage proposals for many couples. Now, some like to propose with THE ring, others want to involve their partner in the ring choice/design, and some just want to do something a little different. Here at Kathleen Jackson Jewellery we have a few things to offer which should hopefully cover everyone, and are more than happy to try and help with any other ideas you may have too!
We have a selection of unique, handmade, engagement rings which are ready to purchase, most of which can be resized if necessary; you can find these on our website.
Although there is not enough time to make your bespoke ring in time for this Christmas (it usually takes 4-8 weeks to create a custom design, depending on the materials and design complexity), we can still take steps towards this and help you to pop the question – so for example:
• we can schedule a design consultation with yourself and your partner for after your proposal;
• we can have a design consultation with you and get the ball rolling with your ring, and give you the design sketches to propose with;
• you can purchase one of our commission packs for your proposal (company information, consultation booking / design sketches, and a message card – “will you marry me?” for example – all held within a branded envelope);
• you can purchase a gemstone (diamond or otherwise) to propose with and then go on to use that stone in your custom design;
• you can purchase one of our BRAND NEW personalised keepsakes (sterling silver bauble, available with a range of finishes)

There are many occasions clients contact us looking for special keepsakes, and so we have just launched a brand new piece: A fully personalisable sterling silver bauble.
Available in a plain polished / brushed silver, or with an enamelled finish (a range of styles and colours), and you can choose to add a stamped message on either the front or reverse; perfect for marking special moments, doing grand reveals, and asking big questions.
Favourite messages include: will you marry me; you’re going to be a daddy/auntie/uncle/grandmother/grandfather; baby’s first christmas; it’s a boy/girl; and simple personalisation’s such as names/dates etc… but the options are endless! (These take around 1 week, so there is still time to order yours for this year!)

Our customisable adjustable baby-child-adult bangles are also very popular at this time of year too – sterling silver (polished/brushed/hammered) with a 9ct gold (rose/yellow/white) heart/star detail and stamped message on the reverse… popular so far are names/dates, baby’s first christmas, christening details, etc. (These take 1-2 weeks to create, so get in quick if you are looking for one to give this year!)

Of course, we are always happy to also discuss bespoke commissions for future celebrations, be them keepsakes or jewellery, however as they can take 4-8 weeks depending on design complexity and materials, the cut off date for this year has already passed, though you can still make orders and give the sketches as a gift in the interim.

As well as the big meaningful pieces we get asked for, this time of year also brings enquiries for items to suit lower budgets, more suitable for casual Christmas gifts, stocking fillers, bridesmaid gifts, etc…
We don’t usually make such items to order as our brand is more focused on high-end, ethical, luxury items… however, we can sometimes create these alongside other commissions (such as bridesmaid bracelets alongside wedding rings, a simple beaded pendant to match an engagement ring, etc) so do feel free to get in touch if you have any specific requests.
There are also gift vouchers available, should you be looking to spend £20/£50/£100 on a gift for your friends and family this Christmas but are unsure what style of jewellery they would like, or if you feel they may prefer to put that towards a special bespoke piece for themselves in the future…
